Knott's Berry Farm

Knott's Berry Farm, the nation's first amusement park, offers rides and water attractions for the entire family. The Knott family took advantage of the Great Depression to expand their land and build an adobe building that included a tea room and a nursery that sold berry plants. It was the boysenberry that launched the farm into the public eye, and there is not a boysenberry strain today that can not be traced back to the Knott's farm. Mrs. Knott launched a lucrative cooking and baking busines, and her famous chicken dinners are known throughout the land and sold from the Chicken dinner restaurant, which now serves more than 1.5 million chicken dinners each year.

In order to give guests a way to pass the time while they waited for their Sunday night chicken dinners, the Knott family established Ghost Town, the first of the six themed areas found today in the amusement park. The park continued to grow through the years and today it is one of the premiere family destinations in California.

The park is 160 acres filled with rides, shows, and unique attractions. There are several roller coasters, including the number one wooden coaster in the United States. The park still offers its old world charm that can be traced back to its berry farming roots in the marketplace, where Knott's Berry jams and jellies are sold. Warm summer days can be spent at Soak City, featuring water slides and wave pools for the whole family to enjoy. The San Diego location of Knott's Berry Farm is a chance for everyone to enjoy the thrills and fun of a California amusement park!
